Description

The Alhambra 7P Cedar Classical Guitar is all-solid and handmade in Spain. It is designed similarly to the classic Alhambra models from 70’s, but has been revivified using new technologies and superior quality woods. The body of this instrument is constructed using cedar for the top and Indian rosewood for the back and sides. The neck is made from African mahogany and reinforced with ebony, which can be seen with a mirror or by removing the nut. The nut and the saddle are made from Melamine, which is an excellent transmitter of sound and known to enhance projection. With golden machine heads and an exquisite rosette, this guitar is a polished & refined representation of the classic Alhambra instrument. (Click here to hear the pronunciation of "Alhambra".)

For an even richer sound, we highly recommend the Alhambra 8P or Alhambra 9P.  These models have a lacquer finish on the top and an innovative cross bracing system, both giving more resonance to the guitar by allowing the top to move more freely.

  • Solid Red Cedar Top
  • Solid Indian Rosewood Back & Sides

Alhambra Deluxe Soft Case Included

Recommended Strings: This guitar comes with D'Addario EXP44 Extra Hard Tension strings installed.  These are not bad strings, but don't allow the guitar to live up to its full potential.  I recommend the following strings for this guitar:

Carbon: My favorite strings of all I've tried are Savarez Alliance set 540J. These strings provide great volume and resonance.  Being Carbon, they are a bit thinner in diameter than nylon strings. The tone is brighter and not as mellow as nylon strings. If you want a softer sound, nylon may suit you better.

Nylon: For nylon strings, I really like Savarez Corum New Cristal set 500CJ strings.  They provide a nice round tone, good volume, and a comfortable feel.

If you would like to have strings installed other than the ones that come with your guitar, you can add the Strings Installation Service to your order.

My Alhambra Classical Guitar

I spent more than a year shopping for this guitar. I looked at luthiers, and other online music outlets but couldn't be happier with the satisfaction I have in dealing with Geoff. I got just what I wanted , including the beautiful hard shell case and Geoff even sent me the gig bag for the cost of shipping. Geoff obviously knows his business. The delivery was quick and the packaging was perfect! I have made a new friend......lol.

Love the Guitar

I love the Alhambra 7P cedar and the service was fantastic, including a rush delivery to have the guitar here before Christmas, done on Geoff's initiative. He also was super helpful whenever I had questions about the guitar and guitars in general, going out of his way to experiment with a few, on my request. The guitar arrived in perfect condition and I'm very happy with it! I will be doing business with XGuitars in the future.

Alhambra 7P

Both beautiful and sounds amazing. It cost me more due to import fees to Canada but my internet search always brought me back to XGuitars … and for good reason as I always prefer to buy from knowledgeable and helpful stores. This is my first guitar and really appreciated the suggestions Geoff made regarding strings and changes to the bridge and nut. Being a senior, I hope to live long enough to need another lol.

More than I could have hoped for!

As someone who has played guitar for 17 years (the first 16 of which were on acoustic guitars), I'm a little particular about them at this point. For the last year or so, I've been getting into classical and flamenco, so I expanded to playing nylon string guitars. Being so particular, I had to do research prior to purchasing, and given that one of my favorite learner guitars was an Alhambra 1 OP (a beautiful instrument in its own right, mind you), I decided to look deeper into Alhambra. After learning about Geoff at Xguitars.com and his history of working with Alhambra, I knew he was the person I wanted to do business with. Absolutely no regrets! You can tell he is really passionate about what he does. He says "anything" that he can help with, and I really believe he means that.

But now, onto the guitar. She is absolutely gorgeous! And while I did have her upgraded slightly, to include a bone nut and saddle (rather than the stock melamine), she has such a wonderful timbre. A broad richness that is both warm and has just the slightest "dirty" edge to it. But its a good kind of dirty. I imagine songs from the traditional Spanish classical repertoire would fit her perfectly! I tested the stock strings against my favored Augustine strings, and I have to say, even the stock D'Addario's were still enough to showcase her qualities.

All in all, my experience with Geoff has been nothing short of stellar. He is prompt in his communication, and he is really fair as a businessman. And I have to say once more, I love this guitar! If you enjoy the sound of nylon strings and particularly Spanish classical, I think you'd love it too.

This One is a Keeper!

First of all, thank you Geoff in facilitating a great guitar buying experience. Geoff was responsive and kept me up-to-date during the purchase process. Loved his due diligence and hand-checked check-list on the setup and condition of the guitar.

I wanted to buy an Alhambra 8p, but it was a stretch financially , so decided to go for 7p after considering other guitars in the price range (Kremona Rominda, Cordoba C10, Cordoba 45CO). The guitar arrived in pristine condition without any cosmetic or construction issues, and well packed. After tuning, started playing and it had a beautiful tone, sustain, and resonance. However, it did not meet my expectations that I had compared to C10 that I owned in the past, out of the box. Although the guitar has been setup by Geoff the best way possible, I wanted to make a few changes to improve the sound, for it to meet my previous experience with C10.

I change the saddle from stock Melamine to bone (carved from a blank for a perfect fit, which took a couple of hours) and changed the strings to Savarez New Cristal Corum HT (500 CJ). Kept tuning until strings settled a bit and played. What a marvelous sounding guitar! Tone, projection, sustain, and resonance, all have improved to a level that it surpassed my experience with C10. I’m extremely happy with the guitar and I’d be keeping this one!

I know changing saddle to bone is a debate and such a change brings different outcomes to different guitars and people. In my case, for my ears and my guitar, it worked out perfectly.

Overall, a great buying experience, a beautiful and excellent sounding guitar! Will be keeping XGuitar as my go to place for future guitar buying.
