Ibanez Standard RGD721FA 7-String Electric Guitar - Stained Wine Red Burst Flat
The Ibanez RGD721FA is a 7-string built around the extended 26.5-inch scale that defines the RGD series. That extra length keeps low-tuned strings tight and articulate where a standard 25.5-inch scale would go slack — the practical reason RGD models have become a default choice for players working in drop tunings and extended-range riffing.
Tonewoods and Construction
A flamed maple top sits over a layered ash and okoume body, a combination that gives the guitar a balanced foundation with clear high end and enough body in the mids to stay defined under gain. The Wizard II-7 neck is a five-piece build of panga panga and walnut — the multi-piece lamination resists the twisting and seasonal movement that can plague a one-piece neck, which matters more on a seven-string carrying that much string tension. The Macassar ebony fretboard produces tight lows, strong attack in the highs, and quick response with rich sustain.
Electronics and Hardware
DiMarzio Fusion Edge humbuckers sit in the neck and bridge positions, voiced for fast response and note separation at high gain. A coil-tap switch opens up single-coil voicings, giving the guitar range beyond straight-ahead metal. The Gibraltar Standard III bridge features a redesigned baseplate and saddles for improved playing comfort while maintaining efficient string vibration transfer, and Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads keep tuning stable through aggressive playing. Luminescent side dot inlays make fretboard position readable on dark stages.
