Description
PROFESSIONAL LINE - HE Doubletop
Back and sides made from expressive grained ziricote and a double-top soundboard made from finest cedar wood. The cedro neck has been reinforced several times at its core with rosewood / mahogany, including the heel. On this guitar we have applied our new, optimized heel, which ensures easier playability and a better left hand position above the 12th fret. The asymmetrically weighted domed soundboard that uses a sandwich design optimises efficiency. The HE Doubletop delivers superior dynamics, a balanced range of tone colour and a crisp and sustained sound. The materials used for this classical guitar along with its workmanship and sound mean that it is able to meet elevated demands.
The pierced rosewood-maple-ziricote head and noble designer tuning machines by Nicoló Alessi underline the high demands that the HE Doubletop makes on quality. This classical guitar impresses visually with its body that has been finished with a UV-cured high-gloss varnish and a soundboard that has been elaborately hand-polished with shellac.

Hanika HE Double Top Spruce Top Classical Guitar
The Hanika HE Double Top represents a sophisticated approach to classical guitar construction, combining traditional German lutherie with modern acoustic innovation. Built in Bayreuth, Germany, this instrument features a double top construction that enhances volume and projection while maintaining the tonal characteristics expected from a professional-grade classical guitar.
Double Top Construction
The double top design consists of two thin layers of spruce with a composite material between them, creating a soundboard that vibrates more efficiently than traditional solid tops. This construction method results in increased volume and responsiveness across all registers, allowing the guitar to project clearly in performance settings while remaining sensitive to subtle dynamic variations.
Tonal Characteristics
The Hanika HE produces a balanced voice with strong fundamentals and clear articulation. The spruce top contributes brightness and clarity to the upper registers, while the double top construction adds warmth and depth to the bass notes. This combination makes the instrument well-suited for both solo repertoire and ensemble playing, offering versatility across different musical styles and periods.
German Craftsmanship
Hanika guitars are built using traditional methods refined over decades of lutherie experience. Each instrument undergoes careful construction and finishing processes, with attention paid to wood selection, joinery, and setup. The company's commitment to quality control ensures consistency across their product line while allowing individual instruments to develop their own acoustic character.
Playability and Comfort
The neck profile and string spacing are designed to accommodate classical technique while providing comfort during extended practice and performance sessions. The action and string height are optimized to balance ease of playing with the guitar's acoustic potential, reducing fatigue without compromising tone production.
Professional Setup by Geoff Ferdón
Every Hanika HE Double Top at XGuitars receives a professional setup performed by owner Geoff Ferdón. With years of experience working with classical guitars, Geoff personally inspects and adjusts each instrument to ensure optimal playability and acoustic performance. This includes precise attention to action height, intonation, and overall setup quality.
Who This Guitar Is For
The Hanika HE Double Top serves advancing students, professional players, and serious enthusiasts seeking a reliable instrument for practice, teaching, and performance. Its combination of projection, tonal balance, and playability makes it appropriate for classical repertoire, contemporary compositions, and various musical contexts where a responsive, well-voiced classical guitar is required.
IMPORTANT: This guitar features a 12-hole bridge. This design puts the strings at a higher angle relative to the saddle, allowing a greater transfer of energy into the top of the guitar at the saddle. This gives this guitar extra volume and resonance. It is very important that the strings are tied properly to prevent slipping. For instructions on how to tie the strings, please see the video below:
