Description
PROFESSIONAL LINE HE Lattice
Back and sides made from expressive grained ziricote and a lattice soundboard made from finest spruce wood. The cedro neck has been reinforced several times at its core with rosewood / mahogany, including the heel. On this guitar we have applied our new, optimized heel, which ensures easier playability and a better left hand position above the 12th fret. The domed soundboard with lattice bracing optimises efficiency. The HE Lattice delivers excellent dynamics, a substance-rich sound, crispness and good responsiveness. The materials used for this classical guitar along with its workmanship and sound mean that it is able to meet highest demands.
The pierced rosewood-maple-ziricote head and noble designer tuning machines by Nicoló Alessi underline the high demands that the HE Lattice makes on quality. This classical guitar impresses visually with its body that has been finished with a UV-cured high-gloss varnish and a soundboard that has been elaborately hand-polished with shellac.

Hanika HE Lattice Spruce Top Classical Guitar
The Hanika HE Lattice represents a modern approach to classical guitar construction, incorporating lattice bracing technology that has gained prominence in contemporary guitar making. Built in Bayreuth, Germany, this instrument combines innovative structural design with traditional craftsmanship, offering enhanced volume and projection for players seeking a powerful, responsive instrument.
Lattice Bracing Technology
The lattice bracing system uses a crisscross pattern of carbon fiber or wood composite struts beneath the soundboard, creating a structure that is both lighter and stronger than traditional fan bracing. This design allows the top to vibrate more freely while maintaining structural stability, resulting in increased volume and sustain. The lattice configuration distributes stress more evenly across the soundboard, contributing to the guitar's acoustic efficiency.
Tonal Characteristics
The Hanika HE Lattice produces substantial volume with strong projection across all registers. The guitar offers quick response to right-hand attack, with notes that bloom and sustain longer than traditionally braced instruments. The tonal profile emphasizes clarity and separation, making individual voices distinct in polyphonic passages. This combination of power and articulation makes the instrument effective in concert settings and for repertoire that demands dynamic range.
German Manufacturing Standards
Hanika's workshop in Germany maintains rigorous standards for construction quality and acoustic performance. Each instrument undergoes multiple stages of inspection and refinement, with particular attention to the precision required for lattice bracing installation. The company's expertise in working with composite materials and traditional tonewoods results in instruments that balance innovation with reliability.
Performance Considerations
The increased volume and projection of the lattice-braced design make this guitar suitable for larger performance venues and situations where acoustic power is beneficial. The instrument responds well to varied right-hand techniques, from delicate pianissimo passages to forceful fortissimo playing. The extended sustain characteristic of lattice construction can influence phrasing and articulation choices, offering expressive possibilities for different musical interpretations.
Playability and Design
The neck profile and body dimensions provide comfortable access across the fingerboard while supporting proper classical technique. The guitar's balance and weight distribution accommodate extended playing sessions, with ergonomics that consider both sitting and standing positions. String tension and action height work together to facilitate technical facility without sacrificing the instrument's acoustic potential.
Professional Setup by Geoff Ferdón
Every Hanika HE Lattice at XGuitars receives a professional setup performed by owner Geoff Ferdón. Drawing on years of experience with classical guitars, Geoff personally inspects and adjusts each instrument to ensure optimal performance. This comprehensive setup process addresses action height, intonation, and the specific requirements of lattice-braced instruments to maximize their acoustic and playing characteristics.
Who This Guitar Is For
The Hanika HE Lattice serves professional performers, advancing students preparing for concert work, and serious players who require significant projection and volume. The guitar suits contemporary repertoire, large venue performances, and recording situations where acoustic power and clarity are priorities. Players transitioning to lattice-braced instruments will find this guitar offers the enhanced volume and response that characterize modern lattice construction.
IMPORTANT: This guitar features a 12-hole bridge. This design puts the strings at a higher angle relative to the saddle, allowing a greater transfer of energy into the top of the guitar at the saddle. This gives this guitar extra volume and resonance. It is very important that the strings are tied properly to prevent slipping. For instructions on how to tie the strings, please see the video below:
