Description
PROFESSIONAL LINE - HE Torres
Back and sides made from expressive grained ziricote with a soundboard made from finest spruce wood. The cedro neck has been reinforced several times at its core with rosewood / mahogany, including the heel. On this guitar we have applied our new, optimized heel, which ensures easier playability and a better left hand position above the 12th fret. The asymmetrically weighted domed spruce-wood soundboard optimises efficiency. The HE Torres delivers excellent dynamics, a warm and substance-rich sound, crispness and good responsiveness. The materials used for this classical guitar along with its workmanship and sound mean that it is able to meet highest demands.
The pierced rosewood-maple-ziricote head and noble designer tuning machines by Nicoló Alessi underline the high demands that the HE Torres makes on quality. This classical guitar impresses visually with its body that has been finished with a UV-cured high-gloss varnish and a soundboard that has been elaborately hand-polished with shellac.

Hanika HE Torres Spruce Top Classical Guitar
The Hanika HE Torres pays homage to the revolutionary designs of Antonio de Torres, the 19th-century Spanish luthier who established many of the construction principles still used in classical guitar making today. This instrument combines historical design elements with contemporary German craftsmanship, offering players a connection to traditional tonal aesthetics while benefiting from modern quality standards.
Torres-Inspired Design
The Torres model incorporates design features characteristic of the original instruments built by Antonio de Torres, including specific bracing patterns and body proportions that influenced classical guitar construction throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These historical design elements contribute to the guitar's distinctive voice and response characteristics, reflecting an approach to sound production that emphasizes clarity and directness.
Tonal Characteristics
The Hanika HE Torres produces a focused, intimate tone with emphasis on clarity and note separation. The spruce top delivers articulate trebles and defined bass notes, creating a voice that suits repertoire from the Romantic period while remaining versatile for other musical styles. The guitar's response tends toward immediate attack and clear fundamental tones, making it well-suited for fingerstyle technique and melodic playing.
German Lutherie Tradition
Built in Bayreuth, Germany, each Hanika HE Torres benefits from the precision and attention to detail characteristic of German instrument making. The workshop employs traditional construction methods combined with careful quality control, ensuring structural integrity and acoustic consistency. Wood selection, joinery, and finishing all receive thorough attention throughout the building process.
Playing Experience
The neck dimensions and body ergonomics reflect historical proportions while accommodating modern playing requirements. The guitar offers a comfortable feel for classical technique, with string spacing and neck profile that support both left and right-hand positions. The overall balance and weight distribution contribute to ease of playing during practice and performance.
Professional Setup by Geoff Ferdón
Every Hanika HE Torres at XGuitars receives a professional setup performed by owner Geoff Ferdón. With extensive experience working with classical guitars, Geoff personally inspects and adjusts each instrument to optimize playability and tonal response. This careful setup process includes precise adjustment of action, intonation, and overall instrument conditioning.
Who This Guitar Is For
The Hanika HE Torres appeals to players interested in historical guitar design and those seeking the tonal characteristics associated with 19th-century instruments. It serves classical guitarists performing Romantic-era repertoire, students exploring historical approaches to the instrument, and players who appreciate a more intimate, focused sound. The guitar works well for solo playing, chamber music, and situations where clarity and articulation are priorities.
IMPORTANT: This guitar features a 12-hole bridge. This design puts the strings at a higher angle relative to the saddle, allowing a greater transfer of energy into the top of the guitar at the saddle. This gives this guitar extra volume and resonance. It is very important that the strings are tied properly to prevent slipping. For instructions on how to tie the strings, please see the video below:
